Special Educational Needs in Education- Clay and Play

Masterclass

This session is designed to be a multi-sensory experience for students so that they can assess and evaluate how learners with special educational needs and disabilities may experience the world.

We believe that messy play and exploration should be at the heart of learning, no matter what age- so we recommend suitable clothing is worn for this session.

12-12.30 Welcome and Overview of Activity

12.30-13.30 Masterclass Mini Lecture/Interactive workshop

With a focus on the role of the educator or caregiver in SEND, students will engage in an activity using clay and natural resources. They will explore how they could adapt this activity based on different learning needs and allow the activity to be accessible.

Students will discuss and learn how they can link clay and play to other areas area of learning and as a platform to discuss current world issues.

Where possible we encourage students to use the outdoors because of the links that have been made between green space and increased well-being.

13.30-14.00
