Modular Acceleration Programme in Sports Coaching

Join the Department for Education’s Modular Acceleration Programme (MAP) pilot and enhance your coaching practice with our fully-funded sports coaching modules.

What is the Modular Acceleration Programme?

The modular acceleration programme (MAP) is a 2-year pilot to fund tuition fees for learners who study modules of higher technical qualifications (HTQ), such as a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND).

What is a module?

A module is a component of a larger course that focuses on a specific topic or subject matter. University of Staffordshire's MAP modules are part of our sports coaching HTQ Coaching in the Community course.

How will I learn?

Each module is taught at our Stoke-on-Trent campus. The modules run for 28 weeks.

  • Coaching and Teaching for Diverse Groups
  • Skills for a Career in Sport

How do I apply?

Interested in studying the Sports Coaching Modular Acceleration Programme?

Am I eligible?

Anyone looking to retrain in a new career or upskill to enhance their existing career can apply if they:

  • are aged between 19 and 60
  • live in England
  • live outside of England but work in England
  • have not previously studied for a level 7 qualification (master’s degree, postgraduate diploma, PGCE etc.)

How is it funded?

The Modular Acceleration Programme (MAP) will grant fund tuition fees for learners who enrol on eligible modules. This means learners will receive free tuition.

The funding accessed for the Modular Acceleration Programme will reduce the amount remaining in a future Lifelong Learning Entitlement account (LLE).

Learners studying on the Modular Acceleration Programme will have a single deduction from their Lifelong Learning Entitlement account, regardless of the number of modules studied.
