Connected Communities

Connected Communities is University of Staffordshire ’s approach to civic and community engagement that makes a positive difference to our place. Through Connected Communities, the University of Staffordshire aims to make a positive difference to our place and communities by addressing some of society’s greatest challenges by co-creating positive outcomes for our communities. Connected Communities is a university wide strategy meaning civic and community engagement is embedded across day-to-day activity and our teaching, research and knowledge exchange programmes.

Through Connected Communities we will make a difference to: 

Our people, by bridging and reducing social divides and improving the quality of life of all our communities. We will raise aspirations, support more to engage with higher education in ways that suit them, improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.  
Our place, by working with community and civic partners to identify opportunities for communities to utilise our campus, and ensure our communities benefit from University of Staffordshire volunteering, research and knowledge exchange. We will support the cultural life of our region, and improve experiences and opportunities for residents, students, businesses and the civil sector.  
Our society, by supporting an equitable, sustainable and flourishing economy and working in partnership to reduce economic inequalities. We will work together in partnership to address our prioritised UN Sustainable Development Goals of quality education; sustainable cities and communities; sustainable consumption and productive patterns; take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts; and life on land.

We have a Connected Communities Newsletter keeping local residents and community members, civil and civic partners up to date on our activities. We also share our University of Staffordshire job vacancies through the newsletter and face to face events, supporting inclusive and local recruitment.
