Integrated master's

Do you want to stand out from the competition in your chosen career? If so, adding a year of postgraduate study to your degree could make the difference.

On an integrated master’s degree, you’ll add a year of postgraduate study to the usual three years of undergraduate study, or four if you opt for a placement year.

You’ll have the option to graduate on completion of the bachelor's degree. However, if you do well and wish to continue, you can add a year at postgraduate level.

There are many benefits to adding a postgraduate year. It's a great starting point if you want a career in academic research. It’ll give you advanced skills or research experience and demonstrate to employers a commitment to your specialism.

If you take the BSc or BEng on an applicable course, you can apply to transfer to the integrated master’s degree at the end of your second year.

How do I apply?

You’ll need to apply through UCAS. This will be followed up with an informal chat (face-to-face, telephone or video call) to discuss your suitability for the degree.

Fees and finance

You'll pay four (or five) years of tuition fees and living costs. But the whole degree is eligible for undergraduate student finance including tuition fee loans, maintenance loans, grants and bursaries. You'll pay back 9% of your salary over £21,000. If you apply for a masters separately, with a postgraduate loan, you'll pay your undergraduate loan back at 9% plus your postgraduate loan at 6%. This means you'll pay 15% in total of your salary over £21,000.*
