The graduates represented five programmes including: Computer Games Design (BSc), Computer Games Design and Programming (BSc), Computer Science (BSc), Computer Science (MsC), and Cyber Security (BSc).
The ceremony was a time of celebration for the graduates and their invited guests. With phone cameras and jeers echoing across the hall, esteemed guests, friends, and family of the cohort captured memories that celebrated the incredible achievement of each graduate as they walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. The graduation marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another and a pivotal moment for the students who had achieved degrees despite the adverse circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his speech, Course Director – Games Art, Daniel Flint at Staffordshire University London reflected on the journey of the graduates, “This cohort started at Staffordshire University London the same year as I did. Any organisation I have taught at, the cohort that you start with and see through to graduation, you have a special bond with, and this group is no exception. Each of them has flourished, not only in the technical skills they are now proficient in, which will gain them employment, but they have also grown personally and most importantly interpersonally as well. It is a pleasure to see the high number of good degrees that they have achieved between them. It is a fantastic accomplishment and I wish them all the best for the future”.
Students' Union Vice President and Graduate of Computer Games Design, Joseph Knight at Staffordshire University London, reflected on the trials and triumphs of his own university journey. He said that he had “really felt supported” by the university community during his time at university. He also expressed gratitude to the academic staff and support staff who had helped him along the way.
Graduate of Cyber Security, Diana Doshchannikova, said that she had “really enjoyed” her time at Staffordshire University London. She added her time at the university was, “an absolute pleasure because of the lecturers and the campus environment made my university journey fun.”
Graduation is a time of reflection, celebration, and anticipation. It is a time in a student’s life where they step out of the familiar and into the unknown. A time to celebrate the achievements, reflect on growth and embrace the future. While the end of formal education does not mark the end of learning. Staffordshire University London graduates are now a part of a world that evolves rapidly and carry with them the lessons learned, memories cherished and dreams they are determined to achieve.
