It was an honour to represent the Technology Service in an internationally connected game. Working alongside professionals and athletes from across the world was in itself an achievement and an unforgettable memory.

At the end of July, Birmingham welcomed the Commonwealth Games to the city. Across the 10 days, we witnessed records broken, history made and we even saw London host the cycling events at the Velodrome, opposite the Staffordshire University London campus.

Our MSc Computer Science (Cyber Security) student, Ibrahim Oladimeji, was lucky enough to work as a Service Desk Analyst for the Commonwealth Games at the Velodrome. He played a crucial role working across the various networks and software programmes used within the events.

Reflecting on his experience, Ibrahim said: “It was an honour to represent the Technology Service in an internationally connected game. Working alongside professionals and athletes from across the world was in itself an achievement and an unforgettable memory.

“This experience has really boosted my motivation, as well as exposed me to the industry and ways things are done.”

Ibrahim’s hard work as a Service Desk Analyst at the Commonwealth Games did not go unnoticed. He has since been offered a few full-time jobs, which he will explore after his postgraduate studies at Staffordshire University London.
