Students meeting the required criteria may apply for a permit. The issue of a car parking permit authorises the holder to park on campus but does not guarantee nor infer a right to a parking space.
Applications are made through the Car Parking Partnership (CPP) portal. Permit holders can register their primary and a secondary car, but only bring one onto campus at any time. Permit holders must update car details if they change cars or are issued a hire/loan car at any point during the year, to avoid receiving a Parking Charge Notice (PCN).
Permits are in operation for 12 months, with payment on a quarterly basis. Students therefore have the opportunity to cease payment after one, two, three, or four quarters revoking their permit accordingly.
You can log into your existing account to edit vehicle and personal details (address, name, phone number only), but not a change in personal medical conditions.
Appeals against a permit rejection are made directly to CPP for review by the University.
College Road Bus Gate (March 2023):
A new Bus Gate has been installed on College Road, and there will be no access to the College Road site when approaching from Station Road.
The University's College Road Car Parking will remain accessible as usual however, visitors, colleagues and students will need to access College Road via Beresford Street or Avenue Road.
Please note that you will no longer be able to turn left when exiting our College Road site as this is where the Bus Gate will be in operation.
Traffic flow on Beresford Street is also being changed to one-way, eastbound only allowing a route down to our College Road site before reaching the Bus Gate.
Our Stafford campus has limited car parking spaces and we encourage the use of public transport and offer a free to use shuttle service from Stafford train station.
However, the University also offers a number of overflow car parking spaces at a secure off-site car park, based within the Beacon Business Park.
It is then a short walk (10 minutes) to the Stafford campus.
Sat Nav: ST18 0WL.
PIN Code to for access the car park is provided when a parking permit is purchased. Please contact on site Safety and Security Officers, if you experience any issues.
For alternative arrangements see the Pay-to-Park (PTP) visitors’ section.
New students
You can apply for a permit at any time once you have a student number. Please note, however, that University parking permits are paid for in quarterly instalments, and cover October to December, January to March, April to June, and July to September. Therefore, to avoid paying for a quarter unnecessarily, we recommend that you only pay the quarterly fee shortly before you need to park on campus.

Blue Badge and supported accessibility permits
Blue Badge and supported accessibility (yellow bays) are provided in each car park. A Blue Badge does not guarantee a dedicated space in a specific zone.
Applicants with a temporary mobility impairment requirement, may apply for a Supported Accessibility permit to qualify to park within the yellow bays.
All accessible parking spaces are reserved at all times for use by Blue Badge holders and University Temporary Accessible Permit holders.
Blue Badge holders must display their Blue Badge to park in an accessible parking bay.
Unauthorised parking in the yellow bays will result in a Parking Charge Notice and a fine issued.
Recent changes to the Government Blue Badge scheme now include certain non-visible disabilities including autism and some mental health conditions. Drivers within this category should review the Government Scheme and apply accordingly if they believe they qualify. Guidance is available on the website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-blue-badge.
On evidence of a pending application for a Blue Badge, an (electronic) temporary permit will be available as part of the University Permit Application Process. If such individuals do not qualify for a Blue Badge they should seek support from AccessAbility Services or through their HR Advisor in the first instance to support any broader reasonable adjustments. Permits are chargeable.
Temporary Accessibility issues
Students experiencing a change in personal accessibility due to a medical condition may qualify for a temporary Accessible permit. This will be in exceptional cases where walking distances are significantly restricted due to the medical condition. Applicants will flag this on their application form (or reapply if their condition changes in year). Permits are chargeable.
