Additional funding

As well as a student loan, there’s other financial support available from a range of sources to support you during your studies.

Finding the right funding

To ensure you get access to as much support as possible, it's important you know which funding you're eligible for.

Scholarships tend to be the most diverse in their eligibility criteria, and can be awarded for a range of reasons from academic merit and sporting achievements to more individual  such as where you live, or your career aspirations. Bursaries on the other hand are mostly awarded for financial need, or for students studying a particular course.

For both of these funding options, you will need to submit an online application via your chosen bursary/scholarship.

Personal circumstances funding

Some students may be eligible for funding due to personal circumstances, such as disability support, funding for student parents, and support for those from low income households. This funding often comes from the government, trusts or institutions. To find out how to access this financial support, read more about grants and funding.

Bursaries and Scholarships

Bursaries and scholarships are presented to students following a successful application for funding. Every scholarship is different with various criteria you will need to meet before you can apply - this could be anything from academic merit, your personal background, or even sporting ability.
