I am a general practice podiatrist who has worked in private practice in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire for over 20 years following a period of clinical and managerial work in the NHS. I consider myself to be a generalist in podiatry but with a special interest in biomechanics and musculo-skeletal medicine. Throughout my career I have worked with professional sports clubs, including premier league football and rugby union clubs and the national squad. I have also been involved with specialist sports physiotherapy clinics and have been involved in the management of many injuries to elite sports participants and athletes at all levels including national and international. As a generalist podiatrist and clinical biomechanist I have helped in many specialist diabetic, rheumatology and orthopaedic departments giving me a broad experience in the field of human movement and pathology.
I have also acted as a consultant to the orthopaedic footwear and orthotic services industry.
I have been privileged to be known as an international speaker in musckulo-skeletal issues having been a key-note speaker at several conferences here in the UK, and in the USA, Canada and Europe.
Professional memberships and activities
Currently I am a member of the council of the Society of Podiatrists and I am a past chairman of the Podiatric Biomechanics Group (of Great Britain) and I have been a board member of the American Association of Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons.
In 2008 I was elected as an inaugural Fellow of the College of Podiatric Medicine and General practice.

Expertise
I am a Podiatrist with a special interest in clinical biomechanics and human movement.
Research interests
Apart from my clinical practice, I have taken an active role in academic and research life at Staffordshire University helping to run courses at masters’ level in such subjects as clinical biomechanics, specialist footwear and musculoskeletal diagnosis. My research activities include injury management and prevention, gait and posture, lower limb muscle function, diabetes wound care and footwear.
