Amritsar, India - Group Travel Experience (Easter 2025)

University of Staffordshire Global connections, in collaboration with Lovely Professional University (LPU), is offering an exclusive 4-week cultural, academic, and industrial experience in Amritsar, India. Only 16 student places are available for this unique opportunity.

This programme provides a comprehensive blend of academic sessions, industry exposure, and cultural immersion. The trip offers a chance to deepen your understanding of Indian culture and industries while expanding your global network. You will gain new perspectives related to your degree and have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that include daily learning, hands-on workshops, and cultural excursions.

The experience is open to all students.  As part of the application process for this visit, academic approval will be required.  You will need to obtain a visa for entry into India.  Visas are the sole responsibility of the traveler.

 Key elements of the programme include:

  • Daily Academic Sessions (2-3 hours): Focus on your chosen area of study, led by LPU faculty.
  • Daily Yoga Sessions: Start your mornings with optional yoga classes.
  • Fashion Week Workshops: Participate in hands-on workshops that include silk screen printing, tie-dye, block printing, marble printing, and foil printing. These workshops are open to all students, regardless of your degree background.
  • Cultural and Touristic Visits: Experience the rich history and culture of India, including a day trip to the Golden Temple and Amritsar City, as well as visits to Delhi and the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra.
  • Cultural Immersion Activities: Learn about Indian dance, cooking, history, politics, and much more through interactive sessions.

Important Considerations

  • Accommodation: You will be sharing rooms (2-3 people per room) throughout the programme
  • Visa: You will need to apply for an Indian visa, and it is your responsibility to ensure this is obtained before travel
  • Fitness: Some parts of the programme may involve walking long distance or travelling by coach for several hours

  • Academic approval from one of your tutors
  • A completed booking form

Costs

The following is INCLUDED with the tour

  • Return flights (British Airways)
  • Transfers from Delhi to LPU campus (Amritsar) and university hotel (approx. 7hs, by road)
  • One piece of checked luggage (maximum weight 20KG) & hand luggage (maximum weight 5kg)
  • Accommodation and breakfast, some evening meals
  • Basic insurance (provided through Staffordshire University)
  • Transport to and from London Heathrow. Pick-up/drop-off - Staffordshire University Stoke campus

You will need to pay for:

  • Evening meals / refreshments throughout the day (some evening meals and other refreshments are provided)
  • Local travel (during your independent travel/free time)

Summary

This experience is for you if:

  • You are happy to be away from home abroad for 4 weeks+
  • You want an organised experience with a variety of different activities (some of which you may enjoy more than others) and are prepared to join in everything.
  • You enjoy spending time with other people, even if you have not met them before.
  • You understand that accommodation is shared (you cannot have your own room) on the basis of 2 to 3 people to a room and this will not be not a problem for you.
  • You want to “challenge yourself”, “try something new” and “get out of your comfort zone”
  • You understand that this is an academic programme, there will be a mixture of lectures, learning activities and some touristic elements to help you develop your skills set, cultural awareness, and employability
  • You are excited to explore something new, happy to fit in and be part of a larger group and flexible with how you approach the experience

 

This experience may not be for you if:

  • You are looking for a holiday
  • You are expecting lots of time off programme to undertake your own trips, visits and sight seeing
  • You need your own single accommodation
  • You prefer not to be in a group with other people for a long time
  • You don’t like trying new things and have difficulty when plans change
  • You need to take time off fixed programmes for rest breaks (our summer school programmes can be very busy with activities – you are expected to commit to them all)
  • You are expecting that the general programme will be personalised/amended to meet your specific wishes – this is unfair to the rest of the group and is not possible
