Researching the impact of screen time on children’s development

Masterclass

Outline

There is concern that increase in screen time use may be harming children’s development. In this session we will consider some of the evidence and learn about the importance of questioning the evidence.  This is an interactive session which will involve visiting students designing a simple experiment to investigate the impact of screen time on a specific area of child development. Several tricky concepts are introduced (e.g. correlation does not mean causation, importance of control groups and counterbalancing).
