The University benefits from affiliations with external academics and professional practitioners. We offer two visiting titles that recognise their standing and the role they play within the University.
A visiting title gives access to university facilities such as the library and an email account as well as the use of the University as an affiliation when presenting public lectures or events. Visiting titles do not carry a financial reward.
Visiting Fellowships
A Visiting Fellowship is an appropriate title for academics or professional practitioners who are expected to make a significant contribution to the University and form a substantial collaboration. Please use the following guidelines and forms to make a visiting fellowship nomination or renewal:
Visiting Professorships
A Visiting Professorship is conferred on an individual who can demonstrate that they will make an outstanding contribution to the University through research and knowledge exchange, teaching or professional citizenship. Please use the following guidelines and forms to make a visiting professorship nomination or renewal:
Emeritus Fellows
A retiring member of University of Staffordshire staff may apply for the honorary title ‘Emeritus Fellow’. This title is recognition of an individual’s standing and the exceptional role they have played within the University, but also demonstrates a desire and commitment to continue actively engaging with the University upon their retirement. The title aims to continue to foster links with staff after they retire, to mutual benefit and enrichment. Please note, existing professors approaching retiring should instead apply for an Emeritus Professorship, and should contact the secretary of the PCC on the details below.
How to apply or renew
To make an application or renewal submission, as well as for any questions, please contact Dr Jane McKay (jane.mckay@staffs.ac.uk).
