Tyrone Messiah heads up Technical Services at Staffordshire University and is responsible for the leadership and strategic delivery of student facing resources across all workshops, laboratories and spaces where our communities of learners realise their thinking through making & doing.
His role is to work closely with Executive and senior colleagues across all departments, Academic Awards, Research, Knowledge Exchange, Business Development and other teams from around the University in order to meet Staffs core strategic aims.
Before joining Staffordshire University in October 2017, Tyrone Messiah spent many years in management roles at the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, and was responsible for helping these high-profile institutions to develop and deliver new operational models across a broad range of disciplines. This included a complete rethink of their teaching & learning spaces resulting in the creation of unique, groundbreaking facilities in brand-new buildings at Kings Cross, Battersea and White City. Tyrone’s background is a creative one, a Goldsmith’s alumni spending some years teaching there in the early 2000’s before starting his own design business.
