I qualified as a Registered nurse in 1998 through Staffordshire University. Post qualification, I worked at Stafford Hospital on an orthopaedic ward gaining knowledge of surgical procedures and rehabilitation. I progressed to working on an acute medical ward experiencing patients being transferred to and from critical care.
I was involved in planning and developing an acute medical unit and became a ward sister. I experienced caring for patients with a wide range of medical conditions in which I gained a lot of knowledge and experience. I continued my career pathway, working on an acute coronary care unit developing my nursing and managerial skills. I have also mentored student nurses for a number of years, gaining teaching knowledge and experience.
I commenced my post as a clinical and technical skills specialist in 2013, enabling me to link my clinical experiences and knowledge to support students in their skills sessions. My current role involves developing professionally, gaining further knowledge and experience.
