Dr Rizwan Mustafa

Regional Course Director

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I’m currently a Regional Course Director at Staffordshire University overseeing the delivery of the accredited entry programmes for initial police training (PEQF).

I have a background in operational policing having spent over 10 years with the West Midlands Police in a number of operational and non-roles. My academic interests focus on Faith Alleged Terrorism & Extremism (FATE) ideologies with a particular focus on Da’esh. I have conducted field research across Pakistan regarding terror and terror affiliated networks, worked with international governments in review of their counter terrorism strategies and continue to present at Counter Terrorism conferences across the world.

In addition to my academic profile, I am also a qualified Muslim cleric, having studied classical Islam from a traditional seminary in Pakistan. My training in traditional Islamic theology offers invaluable perspectives to my academic research interests.
