Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I am a paramedic and a lecturer with a background of working in the NHS.

For me, since the age of 7, all I wanted to do was to be a paramedic. Throughout my childhood, I built up experience of working with people, from going to work in residential homes with my mum, sitting and chatting to the residents to volunteering for the British Red Cross. On completion of my GCSE’s and with 10 weeks off, I volunteered for a local charity, working in their office, taking people on day trips, helping at their weekly stroke club and assisting with deliveries of meals on wheels. Working with so many different people from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of needs, it reinforced my desire to become a paramedic. Whilst volunteering for the British Red Cross, I was selected to assist with the presentation of public first aid courses and this is where my I discovered my enjoyment of teaching. Imparting my knowledge, so that one day, if they ever needed to, they would be able to help others in an emergency.

I have maintained my professional development throughout my career in the ambulance service, most recently, whilst juggling shifts and two small children I achieved a First-Class Honours Degree in Developing Paramedic Practice. I enjoy creating innovative ways for students to practice their clinical skills in a variety of clinical simulations. This years’ escape room day was a very popular event.
