Dr Rakan Aldmour

Senior Lecturer

Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business

Rakan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Digital, Technologies and Arts and Course Leader for MSc Business Computing. He supervises PhD and MSc students, and he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in digital technologies, such as Enterprise Systems, Managing Emerging Technologies, Digital Technologies and Research methods.

His research interests are in Mobile Cloud Computing, Information Systems, and ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) systems, and Industrial IoT. He has been involved in a variety of different projects and research, including research in association with the PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity. This centre has been established to ensure that technological advances in the Internet of Things are developed and applied in consumer and business contexts, safely and securely.

As part of his role in PETRAS project, he researched into the  IoT and the use of Cyber Security risk assessment models to develop a hybrid model for SMEs in which IoT systems and Industrial Control Systems converge. Rakan has also completed an internship at the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, UAE to develop business models, services, and applications in the smart city through strategic development and collaborative work, including the role of the IoT and digital technologies in helping cities.
