Originating from Forsbrook in the Staffordshire Moorlands, Levison has journeyed through more than 100 countries, documenting his experiences in critically acclaimed books and documentaries.

"I aim to support Staffordshire University by inspiring students and connecting the institution with global communities, fostering an environment of adventure and learning," Levison stated upon his appointment. "Education opens doors to endless opportunities, and an informed and educated populace is crucial for our country to thrive on the global stage."

Levison’s distinguished military career in the British Parachute Regiment, where he served in Afghanistan, coupled with his work as a journalist and photographer, underscores his commitment to understanding diverse cultures and environments. His adventures, from walking the length of the Nile and trekking the Himalayas to exploring the Arabian Peninsula and the Americas, have captivated audiences worldwide and highlighted the importance of perseverance and curiosity.

An elected Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Explorers Club, Levison also dedicates himself to charitable causes, serving as an ambassador for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, UNICEF, and the Tusk Trust. His influential presence and extensive networks bring immense value to Staffordshire University, promoting innovation and international collaboration.
