Lord Stafford runs his family estate at Swynnerton and is the brainchild behind the influential Lord Stafford Awards, which aimed to bridge the gap between the work of the region’s Universities and the needs of businesses in the Midlands.
"I see myself in the role supporting the University, the Vice Chancellor and the Board of Governors as an ambassador to the outside world, linking the University with businesses and international partners in the best way possible," Lord Stafford said when he was appointed.
"It’s vital that students have access to higher education so that they can go on and enhance their careers because an educated workforce is essential, not only for ourselves, but for the country so we can compete internationally."
Lord Stafford has already proven himself to be a great ambassador for the county through his previous role as High Sheriff of Staffordshire. He is very well known for his work to promote innovation and to get universities and businesses to collaborate, and the University benefits from his many influential networks.
