I began my career with the Ambulance Service in 1996 and qualified as a Paramedic in 1998. During my time with the Ambulance Service I worked as a Technician, Paramedic, Mentor and Clinical Team Mentor. I also trained as an Emergency Care Practitioner in 2004, although my time in the role was cut short when I emigrated to Australia shortly after. Whilst in Australia, I worked as an Advanced Care Paramedic, in a variety of urban and rural (some very remote!) areas. This provided me with a good insight to our role on the other side of the world.
From my most recent clinical roles as Mentor and Clinical Team Mentor, I developed a passion for supporting students and an interest in the change of direction for paramedic education. From that, I made the move into Higher Education in 2012 and have been here ever since. Since starting at the University as a Lecturer, my roles have included Module Lead, Practice Lead, Award Lead and Course Lead. Currently I am a Senior Lecturer, Level 4 Module Lead and Course Lead for the BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science (Direct Entry Pathway). I also contribute to the development and delivery of all teaching and learning across the programme.
