I first graduated in Psychology in 1982 at Leeds University. My career path has included residential social work with adolescents, Mental Health advocacy work, and a range of counselling and therapeutic work with families and individuals. I have also held a number of managerial positions in social and health services. Oh, and I make a part-time living from writing and performing music as a singer-songwriter and frontman for rock n’ roll bands.

Expertise

As a therapist, I work with adolescents (as a school counsellor), and with adults in private practice. I have considerable experience of working with survivors of child sexual abuse. My therapeutic approach is integrative, using Personal Construct Psychotherapy as my orienting framework. I facilitate a number of personal development groups, and have a particular interest in Group Analysis.

Research interests

I am interested in what motivates people to train in therapeutic work, and how the training process impacts upon them and their relationships.
