Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business

Course Leader and Senior Lecturer with a strong interest in Employability and Emergent Fashion Technologies. Currently developing the use of AI and VR within Fashion Education. After graduating First Class BA (Hons) Fashion Design in 2007, I furthered my knowledge in Design and Construction pursuing a career within the industry. I started to work for a supply company as an Assistant Garment Technologist working with many well-known high street brands such as Marks and Spencer, BHS, Next, Topshop, Tu, Dorothy Perkins etc.

I built to the role of Technical Manager supervising a team of technologists, pattern cutters and merchandisers. Forming a strong knowledge of industry standards. My experience grew covering all elements from fabric testing, digital and manual pattern cutting, working to production critical path dates and visiting and liaising with factories across the world in Turkey, China, India and Thailand.

In 2011 I started my own brand. My business grew and I soon after opened my first boutique. Followed by moving to a larger premise’s a few years later. I made ready to wear garments and worked on bespoke orders. it also helped me to develop and understand the market by working closely with consumers. In 2017 I took my business online full time to allow me to adapt and evolve a wider range of products.

Alongside my business in 2011 I began to teach sewing and construction workshops to a wide variety of levels. I developed real passion for sharing my skill set and encouraging others to expand their knowledge. In 2019 I joined the team as a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Fashion course here at Staffordshire University. I have since become a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader. I have a real passion to support students’ individuals needs and passions across the sector. I continue to enjoy fusing both my passion for lecturing and entrepreneurial practices.
