At the University of Staffordshire I work as an Academic Tutor on the Step Up to Higher Education Foundation Certificate programme of study. My role involves helping mature students to return to education, develop the key academic skills needed for University level study as well as providing pastoral, student finance and UCAS application support.
Prior to joining University of Staffordshire, I spent 10 years working in Further Education as a sports lecturer and personal tutor, employed at three different FE colleges across the West Midlands. I have a Masters degree in the Sociology of Sport, a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport & Exercise Sciences, a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) and I am Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
I chose a career in teaching because I strongly believe in the transformative power of education and I am passionate about helpings others to realise their full potential and change their lives for the better.
