I started my career working for Sussex Police in the control room, alongside which I gained a great deal of frontline operational experience as a Special Constable working in Response and Neighbourhood policing teams.
During my service I held a number of roles and was involved in a number of initiatives including developing better force engagement with the LGBT community and improving the forces response to and support for victims of hate crimes. I worked in corporate communications to improve our engagement at a forcewide level, developing and delivering a number of high profile campaigns including; one was aimed at encouraging the community to report suspected domestic abuse, which contributed to a fifty percent increase in Domestic violence reporting in the period following its launch.
I have held voluntary roles with a number of organisations, including being a community governor for a local primary school and working with West Midlands Fire service to deliver community education. I am passionate about volunteering and have a keen interest in how volunteer placements can be used to support organisations and provide valuable professional development opportunities for individuals.
After completing my MSc, I joined the learning and development team in Warwickshire & West Mercia Police in 2015, delivering a range of training packages to officers and staff. I worked with the College of Policing to develop the membership offer and support for officers and staff. In 2018 I became involved with the West Midlands Regional PEQF Project team and worked with members of the four forces and Staffordshire university to get the PCDA and DHEP course validated by the College of Policing.
