I’m a lecturer with a background in policing, having worked in West Midlands Police for thirty years. I have a background in criminal investigations, the introduction of Taser to frontline policing and programme management. Since leaving the police I have lectured in Global Leadership and Policing and Criminology. Having recently passed a level 7 Post Grad in Law I am now in a good position to pass on this varied and acquired knowledge to students at Staffordshire University.
I have had a keen interest in sport, having played and coached several sports. I have enjoyed exploring the skills required to lead in an organisational context with the skills required to lead in a sporting environment. I have coached several sports including netball, basketball and rugby where I have utilised sports psychology, leadership coaching and behavioural preferencing to enhance performance. I have also explored the benefits of transferring training techniques and skills between different sports which has led to high performance and significant success.
I also have a keen interest in leadership coaching and mentoring, having mentored and coached both police officers and others. I mentored for the College of Policing where a number of my cases were used to promote a national campaign on mentoring. I enjoy challenging others through coaching and mentoring to find the answers that they generally already know.
