Dr Ange ALY

Dr Ange Aly is leading the MSc cyber security award as well as an active researcher in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Her main area of interest is the application of Physics-informed Machine Learning to Forensic and Cyber Security.

With over 10 years of experience in academia, I have been leading and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate cyber security, digital forensic and computer networking modules in the United Kingdom as well as China.

Currently, I am the course leader for the MSC cyber security award at Staffordshire University. I am teaching Cyber Security and Digital Forensic tools such as EnCase, Forensic Tool Kit imager, XAMN mobile forensic, Autopsy and network simulation tools such as Cisco Packet Tracer.

Last academic year, 2020/21, as a member of the Cyber Security teaching team, we have achieved 100% overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS). I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). I have completed the Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) in Teaching in

Higher and Professional Education (PGCHPE) as well as the PGC in Research Supervision. My PhD research involved developing biologically inspired deep hierarchies machine learning techniques for image enhancement applications.

Enterprise and commercial interests

From 2011 till 2013, I was involved in a research project that includes the fabrication and testing of organic solar cells. I have worked as a product specialist in AVA Technologies, a software company. My role was to research and develop video analytic products for security application. I have four years of industrial experience, as I have worked in ‘Sony Ericsson’ service centre, as a mobile maintenance engineer, which gave me good experience in the application side of engineering.
