Dr Mlouk was formerly Assistant Professor of Accounting at New England College (an American University College) with a second campus in West Sussex (England). Since joining Staffordshire University, Dr Mlouk became the Senior Award Tutor for ACCA and CIMA courses for the period 1999 to 2002. He was the Head of Accounting and Finance between 2002 and 2005. During this period, he led a successful review and revalidation of the Accounting and Finance Awards. In the same period, the Business School experienced a significant reduction in academic staff, and naturally, Dr Mlouk was at the forefront of managing this for the Accounting & Finance.
During his tenure at the Business School, Dr Mlouk taught a wide range of subjects/modules at undergraduate, Postgraduate and professional levels. These modules included: Business Finance, Corporate Governance, Corporate Finance, International Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Reporting Analysis and a host of other modules. He also served and continued to serve on countless number of committees, special task force, review and revalidation panels, etc.
Over the years, Dr Mlouk supervised a large number of projects, masters and DBA/ PhD dissertations. Currently, Dr Mlouk supervises 8 DBA/PhD students in the areas of SMEs financing, micro financial institutions, corporate governance, performance evaluation in business organisations (including banking), mergers and acquisitions, public sector project evaluation and capital investment appraisal.
Dr Mlouk was involved in numerous externally funded projects. The largest of which was a Tempus project ‘ASPIRE’ with a budget of €1.2 million and 10 partner universities in 6 countries (Europe + Middle East). Currently (2020) he is the lead person of two Erasmus Plus projects (International Credit Mobility) with a combined budget of about €560,000 and involving more than 10 HE institutions.
Prior to joining the ‘Academic World’ Ahmad started his accountancy training career with (AFTACO) in Beirut shortly after completing his high school baccalaureate (‘A’ Level equivalent) and worked his way to qualify as Chartered Accountant in 1983. At about the same time he graduated with B.Com ‘Accountancy’ (equivalent to first class Hons. degree) from Beirut Arab University, Lebanon. Ahmad continued to work for the same accountancy firm until he embarked onto his postgraduate studies. He started his postgraduate study journey with a PG Diploma (Business Analysis) from Lancaster University (UK). Ahmad then went on to earn an MA (Business Analysis with a strong core of Economics) from the University of Leicester. This was followed by a Ph.D. (Accounting/Finance) again from the University of Leicester (UK).

‘Data Envelopment Analysis’ as a quantitative technique that is used primarily to evaluate the performance of non-profit oriented type organisations.
Business finance, corporate finance, International Finance and business valuation methods.
Islamic finance as an alternative system to the conventional ‘Western-based’ philosophy of banking and finance.
Enterprise and commercial interests
Dr Mlouk provides advice and consultancy to a number of organisations both in the business and governmental sectors.
Dr Mlouk regularly delivers short courses in many parts of the world including: the USA, Greece, Malaysia, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Croatia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and Egypt.
Dr Mlouk is/was the Link Tutor and International Programme Adviser to two of the University partner institutions. He is currently the University Link Tutor and examiner to a major International partner.
Dr Mlouk served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Citizens Advice Bureau (a charitable organisation) for more than 8 years, Staffordshire North and Stoke on Trent. He also serves on the Finance Committee.
He is currently the external examiner of the PG programmes at the University of Ulster, UK. Previously, was the external examiners to a number of UK universities for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Dr Mlouk is the co-founder of a Saturday supplementary school in Birmingham (Arabiya School Midlands). The school is a community type entity which delivers Arabic language education (including GCSE and ‘A’ Level) to about 280 pupils (2018/19) who attend the school from the whole of the Midlands region.
