Abbeygail Standen

Lecturer

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I am a lecturer and researcher within the Institute of Policing (IoP) with a background in digital forensics and cybercrime analysis. My specific research interests focus around technological advancements and the effect that these advancements can have on the more “traditional” branches of investigation such as missing persons.

Having worked at Staffordshire University since 2017, I teach across a number of modules in addition to supervising undergraduate dissertations in areas such as equality and diversity, drugs offences, missing people and stop and search.

Alongside her teaching role within the IoP, Abbey is research active and currently enrolled on a PhD programme centred around how technological advancement can assist in the investigation of missing persons.

I also volunteer for a cold case investigation unit where I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students throughout the investigation of unsolved missing persons cases.

Incredibly passionate about well-being and inclusion, I was also the recipient of the Institute of Policing’s “Social Superstar” award in 2021.
