Associate Professor of Games Education, Dr Bobbie Fletcher said: “At Staffordshire University we are passionate about games and our strong links with industry help to provide graduates with a distinct edge when it comes to carving out careers in games.

“To win this award is an absolute honour. It's a recognition of our talented students and dedicated staff and we are truly humbled.”

It comes after recent successes at the Grads in Games 2020 Awards where Staffordshire University was also named overall winner in the Higher Education Institution category. It is also ranked 13th in The Rookies 2020 Best Game Development Schools and Colleges in the World.

In the past year, the University hosted the UKIE Student Conference where students can meet and network with industry professionals and one of the largest Global Games Jams in the UK. Staffordshire University’s annual Gradex showcase also provided an opportunity for final year students to share their work with recruiters.

Dave Edwards, Course Director for Games Art and Concepts, added: “This is testament to the skills and talents of our fantastic staff, students, alumni and industry partners. We’ve collaborated with companies like Flix Interactive, Atomhawk, Sumo Digital, Aardvark Swift and TIGA over the past year and it’s really shown with our graduates landing great positions in games studios. Thank you to TIGA, the judges and the University for supporting us. It’s been a tough year for education and to receive the recognition for all the hard work the department has put in is brilliant.”
