Visitor Visa form

A Visitor Visa is valid for 6 months and is a suitable option for students coming to the UK for less than 6 months for one of the following reasons:

  • To study on a short course

  • To attend their viva

  • To attend part of a distance learning or blended-lerning programme

  • To undertake research in the United Kingdom for a short period

  • For resit exams

To make a successful Visitor Visa application, you must demonstrate that:

  1. You have a valid reason to come to the UK

  2. You can afford your travel, tuition fees, accommodation and living costs while you’re here

  3. You intend to return home before your visa expires

Your application may be refused if you continuously apply for Visitor Visas in the UK and it is evident that you spend more time in the UK than in your home country; or you need to be in the UK to study for periods of longer than 6 months.

If you need to be in the UK for longer than 6 months to study; then please contact Student Support and Experience so that we can discuss your options. Please be aware that your Visitor Visa request is subject to any fees and/or deposits having been paid and cleared.

Please note: if you have a Visitor Visa, you are not able to work or make a visa extension in the UK. More information about the Visitor Visa can be found on the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) and the UK Visas and Immigration Office (UKVI) websites.
