Students from Belgium came to use our cutting-edge simulation facilities to learn all about crime scene investigation, and put their learning into practice in safe environments.
Day 1
The first day involved learning theory around crime scene investigation, this was delivered by our expert team.
Day 2
On the second day, students were at the simulation suite – this included the bedsit, bathroom, lounge, bedroom and the shop.
There were five groups of students, each with a different crime scene and scenario. At their scenes, students had to carry out a full crime scene investigation including securing the scene, documenting the scene and collecting their evidence.
Day 3
The final day involved the analysis of their evidence in the criminalistics laboratory for drug testing, fingerprint development and identification, document analysis, analysis of bodily fluids, hair examination.
Students then presented their conclusions to our academics and the rest of their group in order to compete for a prize.
