I used to see engineering as cutting, welding, fabricating and generally making things. Now I understand that engineering is the backbone of society. From the maths to calculate the strength of a structure; to the materials that'll best suit an artefact’s functionality and even understanding how an object’s environment will affect its ability to function; this course has opened my eyes and mind to the ability to conceive, design, collaborate and create anything feasible.

Our students

Tutors always explain how and why the skills we’re learning will apply in the real world. It’s made very clear which specialist skills and knowledge employers look for, so we know what’s valuable to employers and can work hard to upskill. There’s also a placements team who work with first year students so they can be ahead of the game when it comes to getting a placement in the second year.

Zach Lowe

Saleh Aghannam

Technical Instructor at Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic

My course has really prepared me for the next step in my career by giving me the ability to work in teams, show my ability to lead teams and to be innovative and to create ideas then see them through; right from the start all the way through to the end project.

Shannon Lopez Robinson

Aeronautical Engineering

If a new software package in the world of 3D Design comes out, the skills I learnt at Staffordshire University have enabled me to get to grips with it quickly. The Data Analysis skills I picked up enabled me to get my first job with British Touring Cars.
