First year:
You’ll look at the foundations of sports management and how to develop a strategy, such as attracting more sports coaches to an organisation. You will also look at how to implement your plans and make operational decisions. Our simulation facilities mean you can practise your skills using real-world scenarios.
We’ll also introduce you to accounting so you can learn how to be cost effective, maximise revenue and understand company performance. You’ll explore the role of marketing as well. There are optional modules covering social media strategy and digital content creation.
Second year:
You’ll gain hands-on experience working on a project with a local employer. It could involve drawing up a plan to improve an aspect of their business. You’ll learn valuable project management skills for a career.
You’ll also undertake a sport placement, which you can tailor to your career goals. You could get experience in a variety of operational and management roles, and also develop your contacts.
Other modules cover how to create a digital marketing strategy, the essentials of operations management and the chance to run a simulated business enterprise.
Third year:
You’ll research and carry out a project, focusing on an aspect of sport business management and operations. It will give you transferable business skills across a range of industries, such as sport, marketing and finance.
We will also cover operations management in more depth, giving you an insight into how to identify issues, make decisions and move a business forward. It could include looking at how to become more competitive in the marketplace.
You will look at strategic management in a global context. Optional modules cover a range of topics, including corporate reputation and the role of data in decision-making.
