Leadership

Overview

This leadership module aims to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to be an effective leader and implementer of change in clinical practice, regardless of your role or level within the clinical environment.

Within the module you will be encouraged to take an active role during in-depth discussion and critical evaluation of issues underpinning current leadership practice. The module reflects the three themes highlighted in the current National Leadership Framework; Contemporary leadership theories, leadership qualities, self-awareness and visionary leadership, ensuring you have the most up to date information to impart in practice.

You will also consider service delivery for example clinical governance, team building, responsibility and accountability, partnership working and empowerment as well as setting direction, including political awareness, leading, and managing change, decision making and horizon scanning, organisational culture and concepts of power. Importantly equipping you, as a health professional, with the skills to lead effectively and implement change to improve care and service provision.
