Assessment and Management of Trauma in the Pre-Hospital Environment

Overview

Gain a theoretical knowledge and understanding of pre-hospital trauma with the experts at Staffordshire University. This module will take you through the communication systems and scene management involved in the pre-hospital environment, alongside the civilian and military approaches to trauma management.

With us, you’ll also cover aspects of mass casualty management and engage in current assessment principles and associated guidelines. Once you have completed this module, you will be empowered to critically analyse and evaluate trauma guidelines pertaining to patient assessment and management – ensuring you are up to date with the latest legal, ethical, professional and individual responsibilities of the emergency care provider when dealing with pre-hospital trauma and traumatic incidents.

Delivery method

Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (19 hours) - 6 hours synchronous video conferencing discussions, 12 hours asynchronous discussions, 1 hour Individual & Group tutorials. Guided Independent Study: (281 hours).

200 hours Self directed study using Blackboard and other web resources and personal reading, 81 hours Assignment preparation, peer support.
