Delivery
The course is delivered as a blended learning approach, through a combination of lectures, skills workshops and work-based tasks through online and on-campus learning. All modules will require attendance at tutor-led classes which are normally scheduled to be delivered on a weekly basis. One day per week is spent attending the University for off-the-job training and the remaining 4 days per week in the workplace. The Apprenticeship Programme requires a minimum of 80% attendance on placement, monitored by the employer and a minimum of 20% attendance in off-the-job training, delivered at University of Staffordshire.
Assessment
Apprentices will undertake a series of formative activities which will develop knowledge and skills, and which will prepare them for the summative assessments. Examples include critical reflection of skills development in patient engagement or assessment, use of feedback from tutors and peers to develop skills, recording role plays, peer-assessment of role-plays, participation in a group presentation on assessment case study scenario, feedback from tutors on presentations.
The modules incorporate assessments as specified by the British Psychological Society (BPS); including clinical competency assessments, academic assessments, and portfolios demonstrating achievement of practice outcomes.
The End Point Assessment organisation is the British Psychological Society (BPS). Once all of the academic work has been passed on modules 1-3, a Gateway meeting will take place between the apprentice, employer, and University representative to ascertain whether the apprentice is ready to undertake the end-point assessment. Once this has been confirmed, an EPA will be scheduled with the BPS.
