Study an engaging Healthcare Science programme and specialise in Life Sciences.
This apprenticeship has been designed to provide apprentices with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to apply for registration as a Biomedical Scientist working within a clinical pathology laboratory. Biomedical Scientists are responsible for the analysis of a wide range of diagnostic tests that contribute to the clinical assessment of patients for the presence of disease, the monitoring of health and the effectiveness of treatments. Within the clinical laboratory setting they are required to practice autonomously, use scientific and clinical judgement, and deal with ambiguity. Their work impacts directly on safe and effective patient care, and they contribute to the supervision and training of trainee practitioners and the pathology support workforce.
The course is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science and is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council
