Home About Facilities Technical Human Physiology Suite Human Physiology Suite This facility gives us the ability to measure the effects of different procedures on human physiological parameters Located within the Human Sciences Suite, there is a combination of exercise equipment, a kitchen annex and various measurement instrumentation, to study the effects of different regimes of exercise or food/drink/supplements on various aspects of human physiology. We can measure the effects of exercise on electrocardiogram (heart, ECG) readings, electromyograms (muscle, EMG) or spirometry (respiration) using Data Acquisition stations supported by specialist software. Changes to the biochemistry of body fluids such as blood or saliva in response to different food intakes or diet, supplement or exercise regimes, can be measured using point of care monitors or lab analysers. Samples can also be used in further biochemical or microbiological analysis. These studies are underpinning to human biology and healthcare studies in particular.
